30 days before

• Finalise new address and confirm key handover date
• Call 2–3 packers and movers in Guwahati for written quotes
• Decide on insurance and inform mover
• Sort and declutter — donate, sell or discard unused items
• Inform your landlord and start formal handover paperwork

15 days before

• Confirm and book the chosen mover
• Update your address on Aadhaar, bank, electricity, gas, internet
• Notify schools (if children) and request transfer certificates
• Cancel or transfer subscriptions (newspaper, milk, gym)

7 days before

• Start packing non-essential items yourself (books, decor)
• Use up perishable food
• Service or empty gas cylinders as per safety rules
• Withdraw enough cash for tips, snacks and small expenses

1 day before

• Charge phones, power banks and torches
• Pack a Day-1 essentials bag (toothbrush, change of clothes, medicines, chargers)
• Defrost the refrigerator and empty the washing machine
• Confirm pickup time with the movers

Moving day

• Be present during packing and loading — do not leave the house
• Sign the inventory sheet carefully
• Get a copy of the LR/POD with truck details
• Take final meter readings (electricity, water)
• Lock up and hand over keys

Day of delivery

• Inspect every carton against the inventory sheet
• Check fragile items immediately
• Pay only after final unloading and basic arrangement
